Rock band The Who to say goodbye with North America tour

After six decades of iconic music, legendary rock band The Who has announced their final North America tour, signaling the closing chapter for one of rock's most enduring acts.

Formed in 1964 with the classic lineup of Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon, the band is known for timeless hits such as "Baba O’Riley," "My Generation," and "Behind Blue Eyes."

Lead singer Roger Daltrey, now 81, reflected on the band's journey, stating that achieving success on the U.S. charts in 1967 was a dream come true that changed their lives forever, bringing "Musical freedom! Rock gave us a feeling of generational rebellion."

Guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend, 79, the other surviving member of the original quartet, shared his perspective: "Roger and I are in a good place, despite our age, eager to throw our weight behind this fond farewell to all our faithful fans." He expressed hope that new fans might also attend to experience their legacy.

Regarding the performances, Daltrey confirmed that staples like "Won’t Get Fooled Again," "Baba O’Riley," and "Behind Blue Eyes" are definite inclusions, while the rest of the setlist remains flexible.

The tour is scheduled to run through August and September and is aptly titled "The Song Is Over." This name is inspired by a 1971 song they had only recently performed live for the first time, a choice Townshend described to reporters as "rather poignant."

The duo indicated uncertainty about whether similar farewell tours would take place in the UK or Europe, partly due to practical considerations like Daltrey's doctor-ordered requirement for rest days between performances.
