More than winning, Miss World bet Krishnah Gravidez wants to spread kindness

Krishnah Gravidez, the Philippines' representative for the upcoming Miss World 2025 pageant, is focusing her efforts not just on clinching the crown, but on spreading a powerful message: kindness. Inspired by past experiences, she aims to encourage compassion on the global stage.

Just ahead of her departure to India for the 72nd edition of the prestigious pageant, set for May 31, the Baguio City native shared insights into her preparations and her meaningful advocacy project. Her initiative, called "Color the World with Kindness," was launched back in August 2022 with the simple goal of paying forward the kindness she had received.

Over time, the project has grown significantly. It has become a youth-driven movement, attracting volunteers, forming partnerships with other organizations, and expanding its reach to address various needs. According to Gravidez, "Color the World with Kindness" has collaborated with groups focused on youth welfare, empowerment, education, and even animal welfare.

A key focus for her organization recently has been supporting vulnerable communities in Baguio City. They have helped renovate and repaint several day-care centers in Barangay Irisan, facilities that serve over 400 children despite having only six teachers. Furthermore, they have identified and assisted vulnerable mothers and families, providing them with small business packages to help create sustainable income and better provide for their children.

Gravidez also highlighted a particularly impactful project: completely renovating the home of a female house helper who was left to raise three children alone. She shared how fulfilling it was to provide a comfortable space where the family can now safely pursue their dreams. These stories, she explained, are what she hopes to showcase as her "Beauty with a Purpose" project at the Miss World competition, emphasizing the importance of nurturing environments for children and families.

This strong dedication to kindness stems from a personal encounter with cruelty. As a young woman working part-time while studying, Gravidez faced harsh treatment from a customer. This difficult moment initially made her doubt her potential, making her feel "so little." However, instead of being defeated, she chose to hold onto her faith in herself and her capabilities, ultimately leading her to where she is today.

"You know, the world is not always kind, but we can be kind. That's the most important part of it," Gravidez reflected. She also mentioned seeking guidance from previous titleholders as she prepares for the international stage, including the Philippines' lone Miss World winner, Megan Young.

Gravidez recounted reaching out to Megan Young shortly after winning her national title. Young generously shared her time and advice, emphasizing the importance of authenticity. "Don’t be afraid to be yourself. Don’t be afraid to show who you really are," Young advised her, stressing the need to embrace one's identity and never forget personal values.

She also enjoys the support of Rabiya Mateo, Miss Universe Philippines 2020. Both women share the experience of being raised by single mothers and now support their own families, creating a shared understanding that has led to valuable advice from Mateo.

Krishnah Gravidez joins over 100 delegates from around the globe vying for the Miss World crown currently held by Krystyna Pyszkova of Czech Republic. The candidates are gathering in Telangana, India, for the events leading up to the finals on May 31 at the HITEX (Hyderabad International Convention and Exhibition Center) in Hyderabad.
