This theme directly reflects the central exhibition it supports, which explores the significant role of style in the formation of Black identities within the Atlantic diaspora.

According to the Met, the exhibition delves into the history of Black dandyism, examining how it emerged from the intersection of African and European sartorial traditions. It highlights the profound importance of sophisticated dress in expressing identity and culture.

Regarded as a premier event in the fashion calendar, the Met Gala consistently attracts a star-studded list of Hollywood A-listers and prominent figures. This year's event was chaired by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, alongside co-chairs Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, Lebron James, and Colman Domingo, welcoming guests to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
