Actor Amay Bisaya dies

The Filipino film and television community mourns the passing of veteran actor Roberto Reyes, widely known by his screen name, Amay Bisaya. He died at the age of 67.

The news of his death was confirmed by the Katipunan ng mga Artistang Pilipino sa Pelikula at Telebisyon Inc. (KAPPT) — KAPPT Actors Guild of the Philippines — through a public post on Facebook. The organization extended its heartfelt condolences to their departed colleague.

According to a report by PEP.ph, Amay Bisaya passed away on May 8. The cause of death was cited as complications resulting from diabetes.

Details regarding the funeral services have also been released. Reports indicate that services will be held on May 11 at St. Peter Memorial Chapels located along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.

Throughout his career, Amay Bisaya was best recognized for his memorable portrayals as a sidekick in numerous Filipino action films. He frequently shared the screen with prominent action stars such as Fernando Poe Jr. and Ramon Revilla Sr.

His filmography includes notable titles like the 2011 movie *Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story*, the 1992 film *Tondo: Libingan ng mga Siga*, and *Pepeng Kuryente* released in 1988.

Interestingly, a report from Philippine Star mentioned that false rumors about his death had circulated on social media back in 2022. At that time, Amay Bisaya himself debunked these reports, asserting he was in good health and suggesting the misinformation was spread with malicious intent.
