Nikki Gil reveals daughter was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease

Filipino actress Nikki Gil recently shared a personal family health journey with her followers. In a recent Instagram post, Gil revealed that her young daughter, Maddie, was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease.

Gil admitted that the diagnosis came as a shock, as she and her husband were previously unaware of Kawasaki disease. She described the challenging experience of seeing her daughter undergo medical treatments, including IVs and various tests, emphasizing the emotional toll it took on them as parents.

Kawasaki disease is a condition that primarily affects children under the age of five. Medical sources indicate that it can potentially impact the heart and blood vessels. While the precise cause remains unknown, it's understood to be non-contagious.

Common symptoms of Kawasaki disease, as outlined by health organizations, include a persistent fever lasting five or more days, accompanied by other signs such as rashes, swollen lymph nodes, redness and swelling in the hands and feet, eye irritation, and inflammation of the mouth, lips, and throat.

Despite the difficulties, Gil expressed gratitude for the support they received and credited their faith for providing strength during this trying time. She shared that Maddie has been discharged from the hospital and is now recovering at home.

Maddie is Nikki Gil and BJ Albert's second child, born in October 2021. The couple, who married in 2015, also has an older son, Finn.
