Veteran actor Dennis Padilla has expressed deep emotional hurt following his experience at his daughter Claudia Barretto's recent wedding. In a candid interview, Padilla revealed his feelings of being treated as a mere "visitor" at the event, an experience that has led him to believe his relationship with his Barretto children is irrevocably broken.
Padilla recounted the painful moment of seeing Claudia walk down the aisle without him, stating it was among the most difficult experiences he has endured. He shared his attempt to understand his exclusion from the wedding program by speaking with the organizer, who reportedly confirmed that the matter had been raised during planning but was ultimately dismissed.
Adding to the emotional weight of the situation, Padilla mentioned his 82-year-old mother's distress when she realized her son would not be part of the traditional father-daughter walk. Padilla confessed that in retrospect, he would have preferred not to be invited at all, rather than experience what he felt was marginalization at his daughter's wedding.
Choosing not to attend the reception, Padilla, along with his brother and mother, left after handing over their wedding gift. However, he was asked to stay briefly for a photo with Claudia at the altar, a request that came after the initial exclusion. He further claimed that Claudia's communication regarding the wedding lacked personal warmth, with event details sent online rather than a formal invitation, and that a prior call from Claudia on the wedding morning, suggesting the event might be cancelled only to be followed by a confirmation an hour later, felt intentionally misleading.
In a poignant statement, Padilla declared his emotional surrender, stating, "I’m finished." He expressed that while he will always be their father, the possibility of restoring their relationship seems nonexistent. He also voiced his realization that none of his children have ever featured him on their social media, a perceived absence that deepened his sense of disconnection.
Padilla lamented being labeled as "toxic" by the public, asserting that his actions stem from a father's longing for connection. He disclosed attempts to reach out to his other children, Leon and Julia, for clarity on the wedding arrangements, but received no response. He also noted the apparent exclusion of Claudia's aunts, Claudine and Gretchen Barretto, from the wedding guest list.
Firm in his stance, Padilla stated definitively, "This is a permanent goodbye," requesting his children not to attempt contact. He concluded by sharing his intention to focus on his younger children and move forward, leaving behind the hope for reconciliation with Julia, Leon, and Claudia.
