Celebrities extend help to Cebu earthquake victims

Cebu recently experienced a devastating magnitude 6.9 earthquake on Tuesday night, September 30, 2025, leaving many residents displaced, struggling with a lack of food and water, and widespread power outages. In the wake of this natural disaster, numerous public figures and celebrities have stepped up, organizing vital relief efforts and offering hands-on assistance to those affected.

Actress Kim Chiu, for instance, put her busy taping schedule on hold to personally dedicate her time and resources. Hailing from Cebu herself, she was seen buying essential construction materials and actively overseeing the distribution of relief goods to some of the hardest-hit areas, particularly Bogo City and San Remigio.

Fellow entertainer Zsa Zsa Padilla also demonstrated solidarity, generously donating food packs and bottled water to a provincial relief center in Cebu. Through her social media, she extended an urgent appeal for additional support, specifically requesting donations of food, water, and much-needed tents.

Local TV personality Divine Lee, spearheading the efforts of her charity, Courage Cebu, mobilized extensive relief operations. With assistance from Manila-based celebrities, they successfully gathered in-kind donations of crucial food, water, and other essential items, reaching impacted towns like Bogo, Medellin, and Daanbantayan. Entrepreneur and engineer Slater Young, a proud Cebu native, conveyed his deep concern for his kababayans, confirming his family's safety while extending prayers for the victims. Lee specifically acknowledged Young's valuable contributions, which included cash and in-kind donations, alongside vital information dissemination.

Meanwhile, Cebuano actress Vina Morales, who calls Bogo her hometown, shared a poignant prayer on Instagram, asking for divine protection, courage, and resilience for everyone impacted. Beyond her heartfelt message, Morales has also offered to organize a fundraising show, inviting other celebrities to join the collective relief efforts. Even the Miss Asia Pacific International organization redirected its focus from its gala night, which was cut short by the quake, towards humanitarian aid. The pageant candidates actively participated in donation drives and relief operations, utilizing their global platforms to raise crucial awareness, embodying the spirit that "pageantry is not only about celebrating grace, talent, and advocacy — it is also about embodying the true essence of service."

Beyond these notable individuals and groups, several other Cebuano celebrities, including Shaina Magdayao, BINI’s Aiah Arceta, Janine Berdin, and Manilyn Reynes, voiced their deep concern for the calamity, sharing prayers and crucial information on how others can contribute to donation channels.
