Carla Abellana Reacts to Tom Rodriguez’s Baby with Non-Showbiz Partner, Opens Up About Dating a Doctor

 

Kapuso actress Carla Abellana did not hold back when asked about her estranged husband, Tom Rodriguez, who recently admitted to having a child with his non-showbiz partner.

In November 2024, Tom confirmed that he is now a father to a four-month-old baby boy. When asked for her reaction, Carla responded with grace.

“Good for him! A baby is a blessing. It’s nothing shocking. You embrace it. So congratulations to him,” she said in an interview with PEP.ph.

When asked if she is open to becoming friends with Tom again, Carla admitted she is not ready for that step yet.

“Not friends, maybe. But it’s inevitable—we’re in the same industry. If we bump into each other, that’s not a problem. But friends? Not at the moment, not anytime soon.”

She also clarified that if given a choice, she would rather not work with Tom for now.

After her separation, Carla revealed that she is now open to meeting new people and has gone on several dates. Rumors suggest she is dating a doctor, but Carla prefers to keep things private for now.

When asked about the possibility of a “face reveal,” Carla playfully replied:

“Let’s see if it’s worth it. I don’t want to pressure myself or take things too seriously. I just want to enjoy one day at a time.”

Although she admitted she has a “constant date,” Carla emphasized that she is still in the exploring stage.

“I’m open to falling in love again. Falling in love isn’t just with a person, but also with things in life. For now, I’m just enjoying.”

Aside from her personal life, Carla is also busy with her upcoming film Selda Tres, co-starring Cesar Montano and JM de Guzman.

The movie, written by Eric Ramos and directed by GB San Pedro, tackles themes of injustice and deception—issues that remain timely and relevant.

“It’s a blessing to be part of this film. Injustice happens every day, so I hope Selda Tres inspires viewers to always fight for what is right,” Carla shared.

Selda Tres is one of the official entries to the 7th Sinag Maynila Film Festival, running from September 24 to 30, 2025, in select cinemas nationwide. The gala screening will take place on September 26 at Gateway Cineplex 18, Cubao, Quezon City.
