Fans of IV of Spades are in for yet another treat as the band continues its surprising return to the music scene with the release of "Nanaman." Dropping just a month after their reunion track "Aura," this new single features lead guitarist Blaster Silonga stepping up to the microphone as the main vocalist.
Penned by Silonga himself, "Nanaman" ushers in a more upbeat, disco-inspired sound, diverging slightly from their previous offering. Lyrically, the track delves into the disorienting, often overwhelming feelings one experiences when deeply falling in love and losing a sense of self.
This release is particularly significant as it marks the second song since the four original members — Unique Salonga, Zild Benitez, Blaster Silonga, and Badjao de Castro — officially reunited. While primarily known for his guitar prowess, Silonga has previously showcased his vocal talents during numerous live performances after Unique Salonga's departure in 2018.
The official music video for "Nanaman," co-produced by IV of Spades and Brian Lotho, debuted at midnight on August 13. Eagle-eyed fans will spot a charming reference to The Beatles' 1964 "I Feel Fine" performance, with drummer Badjao de Castro seen riding a bicycle – a playful homage to a long-running fan inside joke about his "lost" bike.
Just two days prior to this new single, the band made waves with their first live performance of "Aura" on GMA's All Out Sunday. After an indefinite hiatus that began in 2020, during which members pursued successful solo careers, the band, celebrated for hits like "Mundo," "Come Inside Of My Heart," and "Ilaw Sa Daan," is clearly back and ready to surprise their audience.
