Filipino media icon Kris Aquino recently shared a significant personal update, announcing her decision to undergo six months of preventive isolation within her family's compound in Tarlac. This brave step comes as a crucial measure in her ongoing health journey, battling a growing number of autoimmune diseases.
Aquino detailed that the intensive isolation is necessary due to an upcoming six-to-eight-hour infusion of a potent immunosuppressant, which, combined with her existing daily and injectable medications, will "totally wipe out" her immunity. Reflecting on the emotional weight of her situation, the "queen of all media" candidly admitted, "Trust me, it's difficult to accept every night when I sleep that there may be no tomorrow for me."
Before moving to her Tarlac home, the 54-year-old had spent nearly two months recuperating at a private beach property generously offered by a supportive family. Her health condition has also affected her sons; Josh, her eldest, reportedly experienced trauma and is currently staying with a cousin, while her younger son, Bimby, remains by her side.
This period of isolation marks another chapter in Aquino's public battle with autoimmune illnesses, which began in 2018 with a diagnosis of chronic spontaneous urticaria, followed by erosive gastritis and a gastric ulcer in March 2022. After undergoing treatment in the US and returning to the Philippines in September 2024, she made a notable public appearance in February 2025. Kris concluded her announcement by expressing deep gratitude for continued prayers, promising to "reveal all and show you everything for the first time" once her scheduled tests and treatments are complete and she has recuperated.
