Following a triumphant BINIverse World Tour 2025, P-pop sensation BINI is once again capturing hearts with their brand new single, 'Shagidi.' This vibrant track aims to deepen their connection with fans while captivating new audiences around the globe.
The eight talented members — Mikha, Sheena, Aiah, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Colet, and Jhoanna — have expressed immense pride in 'Shagidi,' openly sharing their aspirations for the song to ignite a global curiosity about Filipino culture.
As group leader Jhoanna explained during an exclusive music video preview event in Quezon City, the inclusion of Filipino themes is paramount. "We always strive to infuse elements that truly reflect our origins," she shared, emphasizing how 'Shagidi' dives even deeper into highlighting their unique culture, from its distinct beat to its captivating choreography and music video.
Jhoanna further elaborated on their vision: "For our local audience, we hope it ignites a sense of pride. And for our international listeners, we envision it as a vibrant gateway, prompting them to explore traditional Filipino games and dances, perhaps even leading them to a Google search!"
This catchy, energetic track blossomed from a collaborative music camp held in Davao City. Filipina singer Angela Ken, alongside composers Marqueze Parker, Tommy Brown, Courtlin Jabrae, and JBach, found their inspiration after Angela Ken, Angia Laurel, and Maymay Entrata introduced them to the classic Filipino children's game, 'shagidi shapopo.'
Embracing its roots, 'Shagidi' is designed to stir feelings of childhood nostalgia and pure playfulness. As Stacey articulated, "I truly want viewers to experience that nostalgic sense of their youth when they watch the music video."
Ultimately, the members of BINI consistently circle back to their core mission: fostering connection through their music, transcending individual tastes and preferences. Maloi beautifully summarized this sentiment: "Even though we all listen to different music outside of BINI's songs, the 'home' we've built shares genuine similarities. I'm incredibly grateful for music's profound ability to unite people."
The highly anticipated music video for 'Shagidi' is set to officially drop on Friday, August 8.
