Michael J. Fox appeals for help finding lost ‘Back to the Future’ guitar

Great Scott! The iconic red Gibson guitar played by Marty McFly in the classic film "Back to the Future" has been missing for decades, and now Michael J. Fox and other members of the cast are asking for the public's help to find it.

Fans will instantly remember the bright red Gibson ES-345 from the memorable scene at the 1955 Enchantment Under the Sea dance, where Marty McFly wowed the crowd with his performance of "Johnny B. Goode."

Unfortunately, this significant piece of cinematic history reportedly went missing sometime after the movie's production wrapped up.

Michael J. Fox himself weighed in on its mysterious disappearance, jokingly speculating in a video released by Gibson that "It's somewhere lost in the space-time continuum, or it's in some Teamster's garage."

Joining Fox in the appeal are his co-stars Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown), Lea Thompson (Lorraine Baines), and Harry Waters Jr. (Marvin Berry), alongside musician Huey Lewis, whose hit "The Power of Love" was featured prominently in the film.

Guitar maker Gibson is actively involved in the search effort. They are currently producing a documentary titled "Lost to the Future" chronicling the hunt for the instrument and also plan to release a re-issue of the ES-345 Cherry Red model in October.

Anyone with information about the guitar's whereabouts is encouraged to share their tips via a dedicated website, www.losttothefuture.com, or through a phone number listed on the site.
