What we know so far about the new ‘Gilmore Girls’ documentary

Get ready to grab your coffee, because something exciting is brewing for *Gilmore Girls* fans! As the beloved series approaches its 25th anniversary this October, Ink On Paper Studios is inviting us all back to Stars Hollow with a brand-new documentary, *Searching For Stars Hollow*.

This upcoming film promises a delightful look behind the scenes, featuring some familiar faces from the charming town. Confirmed cast members include Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Jared Padalecki (Dean Forester), and Chad Michael Murray (Tristin DuGray). Also set to appear are a host of cherished town residents: Keiko Agena (Lane Kim), Sally Struthers (Babette Dell), Liz Torres (Miss Patty), Emily Kuroda (Mrs. Kim), Rose Abdoo (Gypsy), Kathleen Wilhoite (Liz Danes), Matt Jones (Morgan), and the ever-present Grant Lee Phillips as the town troubadour.

Behind the camera, Meghna Balakumar and Kevin Konrad Hanna are directing, with Adam F. Goldberg and Jim Demonakos producing. Demonakos has shared that *Searching For Stars Hollow* aims to explore the show's origins and its enduring appeal across generations. The team has already gathered over 100 hours of footage and plans to conduct more interviews to present a comprehensive story of the show's impact.

Further insights will come from director Jamie Babbit, casting directors Jami Rudofsky and Mara Casey, and Kevin Porter, host of the popular *Gilmore Guys* podcast. Writer-producer Stan Zimmerman, who also chronicled his career in *The Girls: From Golden to Gilmore*, will contribute his unique perspective.

While the anticipation builds, an official release date for the documentary is still under wraps. It's also worth noting that appearances from core cast members like Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Alexis Bledel (Rory), Scott Patterson (Luke), Melissa McCarthy (Sookie), and the show's original creators, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, have not yet been confirmed.

For those new to the magic (or in need of a refresher), *Gilmore Girls* captivated audiences for seven seasons, from 2000 to 2007. The narrative centers on Lorelai, a single mother who, after an early pregnancy, forged an unconventional life with her daughter Rory, often mistaken for her sister. Their unique, fast-paced dialogue and heartwarming bond navigated complex family dynamics and life's changes, a story further explored in the 2016 limited sequel series, *Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life*.
