The K-Pop world is deeply saddened by the news that Lee Min, one half of the much-loved South Korean R&B duo As One, has passed away at the age of 46. Her agency, BRANDNEW MUSIC, officially confirmed her death on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her passing. Reports indicate that Lee Min’s body was discovered by her husband upon his return to their home. BRANDNEW MUSIC has issued a statement appealing to the public to refrain from any speculation while the police conduct their thorough investigation. Lee Min’s long-time musical partner, Chae “Crystal” Da-hee, is reportedly making her way back to South Korea from the United States after receiving the somber news.
Lee Min and Chae debuted as As One in 1999 with their album "Day by Day," quickly carving out a niche with their soulful R&B sound. They remained a prominent act for over a decade, releasing multiple albums and lending their distinctive voices to the original soundtracks of numerous popular K-dramas, becoming a cherished part of the Korean music landscape.
After announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2017 with their single "Goodbye For Now," the duo delighted fans by returning to the music scene in 2019 with "It’s ok not to be ok," a collaboration with Lee Dae-hwi. They continued to release new music in the years that followed, including tracks like "February 29th" (2020), "Something Like a Miracle" and "Winter Wonderland" (2023), "Better" (2024), and most recently, "Still My Baby" with Bumkey and "Happy Birthday to You" in 2025. Her passing comes just months after As One made a memorable appearance on the evening music talk show *The Seasons: Park Bo-gum’s Cantabile*, showcasing their enduring talent.
