Star Cinema to distribute Thailand's highest grossing film of all time - "Pee Mak"

After Star Cinema's phenomenal success of distributing Jackie Chan's last major film "Chinese Zodiac," Philippines' leadingis film production is again ready to distribute another international film. Inline to Star Cinema's 2nd Decade Anniversary (#StarCinema20), Star Cinema plans to distribute non other than Filipino's favorite Asian heartthrob Mario Maurer's "Pee Mak Phra Khanong" - the acclaimed highest grossing film of Thailand, beating the "Ong Bak" movie.
Phi Mak Phra Khanong is a 2013 Thai romance,horror and comedy film. The story is an adaptation of the Mae Nak Phra Khanong legend of Thai folklore.
The highest-grossing domestic film in Thai history — with an estimated box office of ฿1 billion (US$32.1 million) — Pee Mak has been on release in Hong Kong for 40 days, a rare feat in such a competitive exhibition market.
Hong Kong distributor Panasia Films Ltd 泛亞影業有限公司 announced that Thai horror comedy Pee Mak พี่มาก...พระโขนง has surpassed the HK$10 million (US$1.29 millon) milestone at the Hong Kong box office.
The Philippine playdate is not yet confirmed by this time. Surely Mario Maurer's fans can't wait for this announcement to come. For all we know Mario Maurer captured Filipinos consecutive times with his films - "Love of Siam," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," and Star Cinema's very own "Suddenly It's Magic" in which Erich Gonzales was teamed up with Mario.
