Marvin Agustin

The year 2012 is undeniably a landmark year for Marvin Agustin, for it is this year that he has been lauded on basically all his endeavors – as a TV/movie actor, entrepreneur, restaurateur, entertainment producer, and a society mover.

Before the end of the year, Marvin bagged two important entrepreneurial awards – the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the annual Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards and being one of the recipients of the MVP Bossing Awards. These awards highlight the immense contribution of Marvin as a young entrepreneur, being one of the men behind one of the most successful food chains Sumo Sam.

These achievements were acknowledged by various brands’ support to Marvin by asking him to be their endorser. Currently, Marvin is the face of brands like Knorr, Carbtrim, Tupperware, among others.

Marvin also proved the he continues to be one of the versatile movie personalities in the land by appearing in two important movie projects – the hit comedy vehicle Moron 5 and the internationally-acclaimed horror flick The Road.

On TV, he also showed his mettle as a host when he did Artista Academy on TV5, where he exhibited both wits and empathy towards the contestants.

As a TV and movie personality, Marvin was also named by the Optical Media Board as Anti-Piracy Ambassador.

With all the blessings he has received, Marvin paid it forward by helping the lesser fortunate by participating in Operation Smile Outreaches.

The year 2012 proved that, through having good time management, Marvin Agustin has played his different roles in various industries well.

“I really hope I can do even better in 2013, but really, I have no doubt because I have been blessed with a competent team,” says Marvin. “I really hope everyone will have blessed 2013!”

Marvin Agustin: Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Marvin Agustin

When restaurateur Marvin Agustin was included in the list of the 17 finalists for Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year awards, the actor-turned- entrepreneur never imagined that he will bag one of the five awards during the recently-concluded Awards Banquet held at the Makati Shangrila Hotel.

“I really did not expect that I’d bring home an award,” says Marvin. “I am with such distinguished roster of respected people in the industry, people whom I really look up to, so I really didn’t think that I will bring home an award.”

Marvin admitted that he thought, out of the 14 finalists, only one will be declared winner. This is the reason why Marvin never really expected to win.

Unknown to Marvin, however, a Young Entrepreneur of the Year award will be given and luckily, the actor-entrepreneur got the distinction.

Marvin was joined by his mom during the said ceremonies.

He adds that his mom was more excited than him.

Marvin shared that a night before the banquet his mom, while reading the Bible, was asking for a sign if her son will win the recognition. Then, she chanced on a passage implying that since she has not wished for quite a while, the desires of her heart will be given to her.

So Marvin’s mom Teresa told him that he might win during the day of the event.

“I am really blessed that my mother supports everything that I do and she is super proud of my achievements,” shares Marvin. “She will always be my inspiration.”

Asked to differentiate receiving acting awards from the Young EOY commendation, Marvin quips, “when you win acting awards, it is inspiring because peers approve of your work. But here in the EOY, it is inspiring because of what it symbolizes – the recognition of the hard work you’ve put in to make your employees and their families survive.”

Marvin noted how National Bookstore founder Socorro Ramosapproached him and said, “You have a beautiful story. Keep inspiring the youth.”

This recognition, according to Marvin, simply proves that with hard work, dedication, and determination, dreams really do come true.

Marvin was joined by manager and friend Annabelle Regalado-Borja, and business partners Raymund Magdaluyo and Ricky Laudico.
