[WATCH] Rappler Talk Entertainment: ‘Lakambini’ and the herstory of Katipunan

As July 7th arrives, marking the historical founding of the Katipunan by Andres Bonifacio and fellow revolutionaries dedicated to ending Spanish rule, a new film project is poised to re-examine this pivotal era through a distinct lens. The upcoming movie, titled "Lakambini: Gregoria de Jesus," promises to offer a feminist perspective on Philippine history.

Described as a meta docu-fiction film, this project took a decade to bring to fruition. It chronicles the life of Gregoria de Jesus, widely recognized as the Mother of the Philippine Revolution, weaving together both traditional narrative scenes and documentary-style footage. The film features a cast including Lovi Poe, Paulo Avelino, Rocco Nacino, Gina Pareño, and Elora Españo.

To delve deeper into the importance and creation of this long-awaited film, Rappler Talk Entertainment is set to host a special discussion. Multimedia reporter Juno Reyes will be joined by historian and resource expert Xiao Chua, creative producer Ellen Ongkeko Marfil, and lead marketing strategist Angel Romero.

Catch this revealing episode of Rappler Talk Entertainment live on Monday, July 7, at 6 pm Philippine Time. Be sure to bookmark the page or visit Rappler's official YouTube channel to tune in.
