Domex joins Brigada Eskwela 2014

Vacation has officially ended, following it is the comeback to school season. As part of the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela, the public elementary schools have partnered with Unilever Philippines and its Domex 1M Clean Toilets Movement in an effort to help eliminate diarrhea-causing germs in school comfort rooms.

Domex is in continuous of spreading news, education about proper cleaning of toilets in aims of: to give access to clean toilets; give back to to community and people; sanitation, health and hygiene.

According to surveys 90% of us are not aware of dirty toilets that may lead to Diarrhea (3rd leading child illness and 4th cause of death among children 5 above).

The 1M Clean Toilets Movement, an advocacy partnership between Domex, UNICEF, the Philippine Public Health Association and Shell, aims to create awareness on proper toilet sanitation and provide impoverished communities with access to clean toilets. The campaign aims to collect 1M pledges for Clean toilets where for every pledge received, Domex donates P5 to UNICEF’s sanitation program which helps improve access to basic sanitation for hundreds of thousands of people. It has so far garnered hundreds of thousands of pledges from individuals and institutions from different sectors which helped create more than 8,000 new toilets for an estimated 160,000 Filipinos nationwide.

The recent stop of Domex 1M Clean Toilents Movement was in Gregorio Del Pilar Elementary School in Manila.

“We are happy to offer our toilet sanitation expertise to some of the city’s public elementary schools to make clean and germ free toilets accessible for the students. It’s our own way of safeguarding the health of our school kids especially against diseases like diarrhea. Aside from clean classrooms, we believe our students have the right to sanitized comfort rooms,” said Jay Go, Unilever Philippines Marketing Director for Home Care, during the cleanup at the Gregorio Del Pilar Elementary School in Tondo, Manila.
