“The Bourne Legacy” unmoved by the monsoon in Philippine theatres!

The Bourne Legacy, the action flick which was partly shot in the country, grosses a hefty US$ 2.7M (estimated P112 million) in 5 days. According to a statement from Solar Entertainment, the local film distributor, “The Bourne Legacy exceeded all our expectations”, saidWilson Tieng in a statement. “We expected it to open big and break its own record but this is phenomenal. We would like to thank the exhibitors for expanding their market and we look forward to what promises to be a magical run for the film.”

Despite relentless rains in Metro Manila Filipinos flocked en masse to theaters nationwide to watch The Bourne Legacy would be the first Hollywood film in which Manila plays Manila and sailed past the Php17.6M opening day the biggest opening day for a Bournefranchise. The Bourne Legacy has already doubled and tripled the lifetime gross of 2002, The Bourne Identity (P36.80M), 2004 The Bourne Supremacy (P35.90M), 2007 The Bourne Ultimatum (P 58.07M) in a span of 5 days.

The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionagefranchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films.

“The Bourne Legacy” is still showing in theaters nationwide.
